I survived the first day of my blog. It feels like American... Not that it is a good thing though! I am still trying to figure this thing out...

I am putting up a website for BKOMag very soon. You should be able to see what I am talking about on the web. I cannot wait...

OK! The magazine's current issue features one of the best South African (more Joburg's) best poet and MC - Flo. Tracking him down was a bitch. But when i finally got him i gave him a lecture about being available and reachable. We then went to Ayob's place (another good writer based in Joburg). We had coffee and spoke to this phenomenon of a writer and MC. Flo just went up against highly acclaimed MCs such as Jonsee Dee, Words Worth and he went on to kill MC of the Month on the popular youth radio station (Joburg) YFm. He reigns as the MC of the month at this station right now...

Flo has also performed with Stacy Ann Chin, Ursula Rucker and Roger Bon Aire at Joburg's Urban Voices... Last year he was given his own three minutes (what an insult) on this international station to wow the crowds at Urban Voices. Despite his success and huge acclaim at Urban Voices, the organisers have seen no little reason to bring him back, they chose rather to bring a formidable and well-achieved poet Saul Williams from America.

For more on Flo you will just have to wait for the new edition of BKO.

I will be speaking about Urban Voices in the near future. I will also talk about the Joburg underdog poets' haven UNITY Gallery which has been closed by the city council...

For now, I am out. Slave drivers are calling...

Flipside. Apparently I am adding comments to my own blog... How dumb! I am supposed to add posts or entries. Thanks to Lebogang (2LMN) and Kojo (Monstafunk & poet of good note), I got it figured out now.

Flo... Flo's real name is Thabo Mokale. Hailing from Vaal (south-east or so) of Joburg, he is a poet and MC of great note... He is the poet that is featured in my BKOMagazine coming out very soon. Flo has proven his superior knowledge and skill in writing and freestyles. We took a very cool 2hours chilling (literally) at Ayob's house talking to this phenomenon of a young man. We got to speak about his poetry, himself and his love for women. We had fun.

Now lets talk about Flo and other poets around and surrounding him. I will like us to do this with all the poets that I bring to the blog and profile in the magazine. Flo has been involved in many collectives - Soul2Mouth, Brotherhood and Seven among others. Why has all these brilliant collectives all but fallen apart?

I hope this blog will grow big and involve more people so that we can create a good platform and environment of spoken word in the city.

For now, the slave drivers are calling...

Flipside.
